Study Guide #2

Problem Set #2

You are responsible for the subject matter in chapter 2.. The following topics are the most important. Typical exercises from Finite Mathematics and Its Applications, eighth edition, by Goldstein/Schneider/Seigel, are assigned at the end of each objective. Work additional exercises if you need more practice. The answers to the odd numbered problems are in the back of the text.  These exercises are for practice and are not graded.

The problem set, made up of the problems below, is graded in class.  See the Semester Plan for the current dates for the grading of the problem sets and taking of the hour quizzes.
3.1     The Linear Programming: Feasible Sets 3.1     The Linear Programming: Feasible Sets
1. Solve a linear program problem given the objective function and constraints. Graph the feasible set, find the vertices, complete the table and provide the solution.   P122#5,7 1. P123#6,10
3.2      Fundamental Theorem of Linear Programming 3.2      Fundamental Theorem of Linear Programming
1. Given an objective function and constraints, apply the Fundamental Theorem to optimize the objective function.   P134#21,23 1. P134#26,28
2. Set up the objective function and constraints for the word problem given.   P135#29,31,32 2. P134#32 (Set up only) ,34 (Solve completely)
