Chapter 16 focuses on the issue of primary and secondary sources of law.  You will need to keep in mind  authorities that are mandatory as opposed to the ones that are merely persuasive (even though primary).  Remember, secondary sources are finding aids and help explain the meaning of the primary sources. They are of great value when beginning your research but you are really looking for primary mandatory authority.  You will not be tested on the trivia of the chapter.  I don't care if you memorize what books are the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc.  or little trivial details about each source.  Know the name of the source, whether it is primary or secondary, official or unofficial, when it is mandatory and when persuasive, and what you will find when using that source. For the next three chapters you may find the following information helpful.  I come from the website of a criminal justice professor.  Part of it was sent to you by email.

I have replaced the information that was here before because the links were broken.  Here are some new links.

Introduction to Basic Legal Citation
Writing Student Briefs
The following are sample memorandums.  I would not expect anything you wrote to be this detailed at this point in your paralegal education.  However, they do show what a Legal Memorandum should be like.
Sample Memorandum
Another Sample Memorandum
These Memorandums are illustrations to show you the format of  a Memorandum of Law. Later, in the Research and Writing classes (and others) you will actually write Memoranda.  This is the beginning course so when you are asked to write a Memorandum of Law I would expect nothing of this caliber.  Do the best you can following the format and using the research that you have retrieved.
