Online Course Meetings

There are no meetings in an online course.  If a student has had minimal or NO law classes this class can be extremely difficult as it is a LAW class and requires a basic knowledge of the organization of the legal system of the United States, as well as, the sources of the law and their interaction.  A basic class will aid you in understanding the material and will make it seem more comprehensible.  If some of you feel that a meeting is necessary I will be more than happy  to schedule a class meeting to help with the material.

Extra Credit

In addition to the required work the student has the option of completing 100 points of Extra Credit work.

Online Student Evaluation

Students sometimes do not understand a grading system not based on 100 or one where the grade is not a % of the final grade.  This system is a flexible system that allows the independent learner to choose his/her desired grade goal and allows him/her to reach that goal by doing the class work that he/she feels will achieve that goal.
Note: Click on the item below for more information.
Assignments    200 points
Quizzes 150 points
Final  100 points
Discussions 50 Points
Extra Credit 100 points

Online Course Schedule

Late Work
It is imperative that you keep up with the class work.  In the past I have found that students who fall behind NEVER catch up.  In order to provide the students in the class with the greatest opportunity to succeed, I am holding firm to the deadlines established in the class.  Another important reason for this policy is that paralegals (and other employees) are always subject to deadlines and very often under extreme pressure.  It is necessary that you acquire the scheduling skills that will allow you to complete the work assigned by the supervising attorney (or other supervisor) on time allowing flexibility for the unexpected.
There are
NO extensions so please do not ask me for one.

Release Date
Each new module will be released at least 7 days before the scheduled deadline for the current module.  This is to accommodate students who wish to proceed more quickly.
I reserve the right to change modules up to the release date.  If you begin working prior to the release date you may be completing assignments that will no longer be included or you may miss new assignments that have been added. Please do not begin the work until the release date.  There will be changes and updates until that time.

Due Date
All work will be due and must be delivered (See delivery instructions below) to instructor NO LATER than midnight on the Due Date.

Please Note: There are 13 chapters and 14 weeks in the semester.  Therefore, the expectation is that you will complete approximately one chapter per week.

Module 1
The Due Date is the last date the assignments and extra credit will be accepted.  Chapter 2 is perhaps the most important chapter in the course. It deals with which court has the power to hear cases dealing with cyberspace issues. I urge you to spend a significant time reading and studying Chapter 2.
