Interactive Math Tutorial

If you are struggling with math related to the Principles of Nutrition course, you may find a very cool new resource helpful to you. It is an interactive math tutorial that we built to assist you. The first three lessons relate to basic math and the last three lessons relate to math as it relates to nutrition
Lesson one, two and three:
- percentages, proportions and dimensional analysis
Lesson Four: (module one)
- kcals in a food from the gram amounts of the macronutrients
Lesson Five: (module two)
- percent kcals coming from a macronutrient in a food
- minimum or maximum number of grams of a macronutrient a person should have given a certain number of kcals per day consumed
- percent of a person's total kcals are coming from fat, carbohydrate or protein
Lesson Six: (module two)
- labeling:
- percent daily value for a nutrient if given the daily value (DV) and the gram / milligram amount per serving
- gram or milligrams of a nutrient in a serving of food 9if given the DV and %DV)

If you think you understand the basic math, start with lesson four and work through lessons 4,5 and 6. If you get stuck, go back to lesson one. Check your knowledge throughout with interactive practice problems and two stand alone quizzes after lessons 5 and 6. Feel free to send your score on the interactive quiz to your nutrition professor so he/she knows that you completed it.
