Electric Generator
The electric generator uses mechanical energy (you turning it) to move a magnet. The moving magnetic field then produces a current which can be used to power bulbs, bells etc.
Mechanical energy => Electrical energy
Electric Motor
The electric motor uses current to generate a magnetic field which causes the bar magnets to spin. The spinning bar magnets is an example of mechanical energy which can then be used to spin the axel and turn wheels, for example.
