Books are the basic tools of libraries.

They can teach you how to build something, why people behave a certain way or how to find help with a problem. They inform and entertain. And they can give you the past, present and the future.

Typically a book has:

  • a cover and preliminary pages (title, dedication, table of contents, list of illustrations, preface and/or introduction)
  • text, graphics and notes
  • auxiliary materials (glossary, appendix, notes, index, works cited and/or bibliography)
Libraries have many books waiting for you to use them - Truxal Library alone has over 130,000 books!

Libraries have two basic categories of books:   Main Stacks     Reference Materials
