Books are the basic tools of libraries.
They can teach you how to build
something, why people behave a certain way or how to find help with a problem. They
inform and entertain. And they can give you the past, present and the future.
Typically a book has:
- a cover and preliminary pages (title, dedication, table of contents, list of
illustrations, preface and/or introduction)
- text, graphics and notes
- auxiliary materials (glossary, appendix, notes, index, works cited and/or bibliography)
