Holdings Information title

In addition to the call number, you also need to note the holdings information to be able to find books in the library.  Holdings information is seen through searching the online catalog.

Holdings information just means the location where the book is shelved, along with the current status of the item.

You already know about two of the library's collections:

1. Main Stacks - location reads AACC MAIN STACKS
2. Reference Materials - location reads AACC REFERENCE AREA and is indicated before the call number by [REF]

Take a good look at the status column in the examples from the library catalog shown above. The status will show one of the following and will indicate where, and even if, the item is available:

  • checked out - due: MM/DD/YYYY

  • not checked out

  • assumed lost

  • reserve room

  • noncirculating
